Fan Box Office Collections are on a roll as audiences worldwide have rushed to the theatres to see the latest Shahrukh Khan movie. As a result, the film has performed exceptionally well in the overseas markets by collecting approx. $6.01 mn (Rs 40.05 cr) in its opening weekend. The movie has thus emerged as the ‘highest opening weekend grosser of 2016’ overseas. On the other hand, Hindi films continue to face stiff competition from their regional counterparts overseas. After Punjabi films which dominated the Australia box office last month, it’s the turn of THERI (Tamil), which is doing extraordinary business in key international markets. At the Australia box office, the movie has surpassed the opening weekend business of Akshay Kumar’s AIRLIFT.
At the Malaysia box office, the collections of THERI have surpassed the collections of Fan by a huge margin inspite of being released there in similar number of screens. As far as Fan box office collections is concerned (overall) Shahrukh Khan movie’s fourth day collection has fallen drastically to Rs 6.05 crore (Monday), which was the first working day after the long weekend for most people. The empty seats at theatres was a direct result. Nevertheless, the overall figures are still rising steadily. Check this out: Fan India collection total by the fourth day was Rs 58.40 crore (gross approx of Rs 83.43 crore).
The foreign take has been excellent for Fan and due to this the overall total is as high as Rs 122.90 cr. The best take was in UAE of Rs 15.61 crore followed by North America of Rs 8.91 crore, United Kingdom generated Rs 3.85 crore, the rest of the world was in small numbers. Anyhow, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan has shown a further drop in the Tuesday box office collections. According to early estimates, the film collected in the range of 6 crores on its fifth day. Thus, the film’s total now stands with a collection of approximately 64.40 crores at the domestic box office. Interestingly, in spite of being high on star value as well as being hailed by the critics, Fan is hardly enjoying good footfalls.
On the next day i.e. Wednesday, it reported almost similar response and added the amount of 5.65 crore* as its 6th day collection. After 6 days, total domestic collection of Fan is recorded as 69.95 crore*. In fact, The Jungle Book which is currently in its second week, is performing better than the Maneesh Sharma film. Shah Rukh’s last film, Dilwale was panned by the critics and audiences managed to make it to the 100 Crore Club in 7 days. Looks like Fan may take slightly longer than that.
